Wedding Stories: Brenda + Karl | Chateau Laurier Wedding
Brenda Cooke and Karl Thom's love story began after Karl introduced himself at their work Christmas party. Perhaps it was the door prize Brenda won (a $500 gift certificate to the Lac Lemay Casino!) that enticed this avid poker player to spark up a conversation… but needless to say, his gamble paid off. Karl won the jackpot when he married his beautiful bride on a rainy September day. Knowing the history of how they met, it's no surprise this couple opted for a "James Bond" feel for their wedding. Julie Barake from Chic Wedding Planning made sure every element of their special day tied in with their vision of a classic, elegant and retro atmosphere. Brenda was a timeless beauty in her fit 'n flare lace gown. Her strawberry blond locks were curled to create the perfect wavy up-do, and then adorned with a lovely bejewelled hairpiece. Her makeup, both natural and sophisticated, was the image of grace and opulence. As for Brenda's leading man; suited up in his tuxedo, he looked fit for a starring role in Casino Royale.
The Chateau Laurier seemed like the perfect backdrop for their nuptials, capturing the essence of their theme. Brenda and Karl exchanged vows in an emotional and personal ceremony that took place in the Canadian Room. The beautiful sounds of a string quartet flooded the air as Brenda walked down the aisle; a special touch that left a lasting impression on their guests.
Later, 225 of Brenda and Karl's closest friends and family enjoyed dinner and dancing in the Adam Room. Lovely florals of white and rich purples complemented the warm glow of the hanging chandeliers and decorated the room. The culinary team at the Chateau Laurier had prepared a four course meal, starting with a delicious apple butternut squash soup followed by a mixed green salad with candied nuts and topped with a lime raspberry vinaigrette. The main course was prime rib, accompanied by roasted vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes, and seemed to be a hit with everyone… particularly with the groom who just had to have seconds! Those with a sweet tooth finished off with a scrumptious chocolate pecan pie. Finally, it was time to work off some of that delightful dinner on the dance floor. Quality Entertainment provided the soundtrack that kickstarted an epic dance party - complete with breakdancing moves from Karl's groomsman that seemed to surprise everyone! Although the weather may have been grey and rainy, there was certainly nothing dull about Brenda and Karl's special day.
