Welcome to the team, Margo!
We’re super happy to welcome Margo Menard to our photography team! She brings a wealth of experience with her, and is always brimming with energy. With a background in fashion photography as well as wedding photography, she’s an expert in making brides feel comfortable, and look beautiful in front of the camera. Here are 7 questions to help you get to know her a little!
When did you first get interested in photography?
I’ve always been interested in art and design. When I was in high school and university, I went to art school, and later finished a program in marketing and graphic design. It wasn’t until I moved to Toronto after graduating that I really started to feel inspired by the world around me, and I found myself trying to capture that feeling with photography. I actually started out with just the camera on my phone, wandering around the city and exploring, before moving into it professionally!
What do you love about photography?
What I love the most is that I get to help create beautiful memories for people that they get to keep and share for their whole life. Whenever I look through old photos from my own life, I remember all the happy and fun times I’ve had – I love that as a photographer I get to help create that feeling for other people.
What’s the best thing about photographing weddings?
There is always so much happiness at weddings! Everyone is really at their best and it's such an emotional day. So many opportunities to capture that beauty in people who truly love each other.
How would you describe your photography style?
I try to tell a story with every shoot. For me, it isn’t just about capturing people and events, but also the setting, the timing, the emotion, the atmosphere. So I try to incorporate the feeling of that day into my photography. In terms of aesthetics, I would describe my style as classic, elegant, and sharp. At least that’s how I like to think of it!
When you’re not photographing, what do you like to do?
I love to travel and explore new places! I also try to spend as much time with my family as possible, and love to go for long walks with my fluffy pomeranian, Misha.
Do you have any tips for couples who are looking for a wedding photographer?
Don’t be afraid to let your photographer know what you’re hoping to get from the photos! Different couples value different things, and I find it always helps to communicate about what’s most important to you.
What made you want to join the Union Eleven team?
I really like the team’s style! For me it’s so important to be around other photographers who motivate and inspire me, and I’ve definitely found that with the union Eleven team!
