Wedding Stories : Lindsay + Aleks | National Arts Centre
Lindsay and Aleks couldn't have imagined a more perfect day for their August wedding. The sun was shining on the rooftop terrace of the National Arts Centre, where they said their i-do's and later celebrated with their 120 guests. After dating for more than ten years and supporting each other through extensive studies, Lindsay, a chemical engineer, and Aleks, a physician, described their wedding as "the cherry on top" of their relationship.
Beautiful florals in blush and champagne tones, accented by muted greens, decorated the rooftop setting. At the end of the aisle, Lindsay joined Aleks under a flower adorned arch which overlooked a picture-perfect view of the Chateau Laurier.
The beautiful bride opted for a classic look that mirrored the timeless elegance of their wedding decor. Her La Sposa by Pronovias gown was a stunning strapless design with a full tulle skirt and embroidered details - absolutely fit for a princess! Lindsay's hair, done by Michelle Nguyen at Hair Republic, was pulled back and loosely pinned in a stack of curls. Sommer Mbonu kept the makeup soft and simple, inspired by the blush tones found throughout the wedding's colour palette.
Lindsay and Aleks' guests were treated to a fantastic menu provided by the National Arts Centre. They sipped on a white sangria signature cocktail while sampling assorted hot and cold canapés. After enjoying a delicious caprese salad and minted honeydew sorbet, the guests had the option between AAA Alberta beef and Wild B.C. salmon as a delectable main course. As Lindsay is a self-proclaimed chocolate enthusiast, she was most excited about the dessert: a pyramid of chocolate with a crème brûlée core, paired with a wild berry compôte. Does it get any better than that?
During dinner, Lindsay and her new husband listened to their friends' advice and took the time to soak in the magic of their wedding day. Despite being warned that this day would fly by, they were still surprised by how quickly it was over. Taking the time to look around and appreciate the presence of all those who celebrated their special day with them was a touching moment that Lindsay and Aleks will cherish forever.
