Wedding Stories: Jessica + Rodi | National Gallery of Canada
Fair-y tale: Noun. Something regarded as resembling a fairy story in being magical, idealized or extremely happy. Fairytale. The perfect word to describe Jessica and Rodi's love story. From horseback rides, to castles and princess gowns… this true tale is just as romantic as any of the childhood classics you've read.
There has been no shortage of "all-too-perfect", "made-for-the-movies" elements for this couple from the moment they met. Both lawyers today, Jessica and Rodi met as undergrad students in a physics class. Rodi knew to take his opportunity to meet his future wife when he overheard her asking a classmate for lecture notes. After volunteering his own, they became inseparable… and the rest is history, as they say!
The proposal was equally fit for the big screen. Rodi spared no detail when he planned a romantic weekend getaway to Mont-Tremblant; a trip he claimed to have won at work to remain inconspicuous. While horseback riding through the mountains, the couple stopped to admire the magnificent view. As Jessica turned to express her awe, Rodi had already gotten down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.
The happy couple planned their nuptials for August and lucked out with a beautiful, sunny day. Behind the Chateau Laurier's walls, both Jessica and Rodi prepared for their dream day. Rodi looked charming in his sophisticated design by Tom Ford, while Jessica stopped the room in her stunning Vera Wang princess gown. The two looked picture perfect - so much so, that even strangers sporadically stopped them on the street and asked to be photographed with them!
After saying their "I do's" at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 120 of Jessica and Rodi's closest friends and family members celebrated at the National Gallery of Canada. Beautiful florals in blush and champagne colours adorned the open space, giving the room a dreamy and romantic feel. An "escort tree" accented with ribbons and candle-lit ornaments indicated the seating arrangements - an element that left a lasting impression with guests and the bride alike.
Judging by the smiling faces at the reception, this wedding ended the same way any fairytale would -happily! A promising sign for a lifetime of happiness for Jessica and Rodi.
