An NAC Wedding
KATHERINE + BRAYDEN
Brayden and I met in March 2015, and within a few dates we quickly knew that it would turn into something big. Before long, we were making travel plan after travel plan, having gone to Cuba, Mexico and California within our first year together. We both enjoy hiking, snorkeling and outdoor activities and continue make sure to include adventurous activities on all our trips.
It was very fitting that he proposed during an open-door helicopter ride 5,000 feet in the air, over Mount Waialeale in Kauai, Hawaii. And yes, he had the actual ring with him! He probably hadn’t anticipated that he would have to propose over a microphone and, of course, I completely forgot to press the mic button when saying yes! We celebrated the engagement with a beautiful dinner at the St. Regis Princeville Resort overlooking the Napali Coast.
Brayden and I moved to Ottawa, my hometown, from Toronto in 2017 and decided that we wanted to have our wedding in our new city. Since we both spend lots of time at conferences and tradeshows for work, we wanted an event space that was unique and that showcased the beauty of the city. The National Arts Centre’s new event spaces are stunning, and provided us with the opportunity to show off the city as our backdrop to all of our out-of-town guests, many of whom were visiting the city for the first time.
We had a wonderful experience working with Kristin from Union Eleven, she was professional, fun to work with, open to trying different and unique shots, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. We love the photos that were captured, with our favourites being the ones with parliament hill in the background.
We had a perfect wedding day - the sun was shining, everyone was in good spirits and everything went off without a hitch. We laughed and danced the night away with all of our favourite people and, at the end of the night, wished that we could do it all over again the next day!
